The first type of parquet is piece. It has many advantages, in particular, it can be repaired many times, it is durable, it can be installed in various patterns. That is why block parquet is much more popular than its “brothers”.

Block parquet consists of planks with spikes and grooves, which are connected to each other, forming a single picture. The standard plank thickness can vary from 15 to 22 mm. The standard width is from 40 to 75 mm, the length is up to 50 cm. Spikes, combs are 4 by 4 mm in size. Grooves, recesses - 4 by 5 mm.

Professionals divide the planks of block parquet into six groups depending on the color:

  • the darkest. They are made of ebony, bog oak, wenge.
  • brown. They are made from walnut, cougar, jacaranda, merbau.
  • red. To make them, you need doussia, yarra, African paduk, mahogany kempas.
  • pink. For block parquet of such a delicate color, cherry, alder, pear, beech are used.
  • yellow. They are made from chestnut, olive, flounder, teak.
  • light. You will need ash, maple, hornbeam, oak, bamboo wood.

By the type of pattern, block parquet is usually divided into the following varieties:

  • select. This is the smallest drawing.
  • guest. This concept means a contrastingly mixed pattern.

Typesetting, also known as mosaic parquet. It is a square panel, the size of which can be 40 by 40 or 60 by 60 cm. Each panel contains a set of separate planks, which can have different shades, which is why this type of parquet got its name. The thickness of the planks varies from 8 to 12 mm.

A layer of soundproofing material can be glued to the underside of the mosaic parquet, and the upper side is protected with special paper, which is removed after installation. All kinds of patterns can be laid out from different shields, the coating turns out to be very interesting.

It should be remembered that inlaid parquet differs significantly in the method of fastening and the profile of the edges:

  • mount on a soft rail. There are grooves along the perimeter of all strips, and so that they do not diverge, slats are used that are inserted into the joints.
  • rebated rivets. On the sides of the planks there are oblique folds, they help to fasten the parquet with hot bitumen or mastic. The advantage of this mount is its unsurpassed durability.
  • mounting on a solid rail. These planks will have to be nailed to the base, which gives them special strength. On both sides of the planks there are grooves, on the other two there are ridges.
  • riveting with an edge, that is, an oblique groove that strengthens the fastener.
