To begin with, the very word "limiter" as a mechanism implies that some action will be forcibly terminated, stopped. The limiter installed on the plastic window is designed to prevent, interfere with its full opening. At the same time, it should be possible to ventilate the room.

The two simplest options for window restraints are homemade. The first is a simple chain, similar to those previously installed on the front doors. You can screw it at the top of the opening sash of the window yourself, with self-tapping screws. The second is a limiter screwed into the window sill. You can take one designed to restrict the opening of the entrance doors, you can do it yourself. Minus the limiter in the window sill - no one can open the window wide, you just have to dismantle the part.

Among the factory options for protecting children and animals on plastic windows, locks are especially popular. They can be installed directly in the handle so that after turning the key, it is rigidly fixed in the closed position. Or on the sash of the window, so that the lock does not allow it to open for swinging.

Thus, there are two main types of locks for plastic windows - built into the handle and overhead. Both options have their drawbacks. If the handle is locked, then even for airing the window cannot be opened without a key. Usually the length of the cable does not exceed 20 centimeters, it is durable, and a key is required to remove the protection. Such limiters can be conveniently installed not only on swing windows, but also on sliding windows - the cables will prevent the shutters from opening more than 10-15 centimeters.

2. The comb limiter. It has a very simple principle of operation - the window, when opened or open for ventilation, is fixed according to the principle of a rod in a groove. There are usually four slots in the comb, that is, you can open the window wide enough for a strong influx of fresh air. At the same time, a child, and even more so a pet, will not be able to pull the rod out of the groove on its own - the structure is rather tight. 3. Limiter with braking. Such a system is placed at the bottom of the window sash, does not allow it to swing open excessively and at the same time smoothly closes. Similar mechanisms are installed on the front doors of shops, for example, so as not to slam.

4. Retractable stop. It is similar in the principle of installation - on the lower sash - with the previous version. But the action is similar, rather, with a comb, since it allows you to set the width of the opening of the window and fix it in this position.

Stoppers and latches for sliding doors stand out separately. They can be installed not only on sliding windows, but also on balcony doors, if they open in this way. Stoppers are attached to the sash, preventing them from moving beyond a certain position.

All such limiters are inexpensive. Plastic models, for example, combs or stoppers, can be found for 50-200 rubles, metal ones will cost more, but not more than 500-1000 rubles.

Finally, do not forget about the most reliable, but expensive way - window grills. This option of protection will definitely not allow a child or a pet to fall out of the window, and also protect the apartment from burglars.
