Gate delivery set

Most manufacturers have differences only in the performance of individual structural units. The general principle of operation, as well as the installation scheme, are similar for gates of different brands.

Each of the door models has detailed installation instructions with explanatory illustrations and approximately the following scope of delivery:

  1. The sections are thin structurally insulated sandwich panels. Their number depends on the height of the opening.
  2. Two pairs of straight rails. Some serve as vertical posts of the opening, others are mounted horizontally under the ceiling and serve to keep the gate open.
  3. A pair of guide arcs. If vertical installation is selected, they may not be present.
  4. Crossbars and connecting profiles, which form the horizontal parts of the opening and strengthen the supporting rails.
  5. A torsion spring shaft or tension springs are a device that maintains the gate in a half-open state and facilitates the movement of the leaf.
  6. A set of mounting brackets - everything here for a secure installation of the rails in the opening.
  7. Auxiliary parts - rollers, braces, cable, controls.
  8. Protective and decorative covers.
  9. A set of seals.

Assembling and installing the frame

The dimensions of the opening are measured at three points in height and width along the edges and in the middle. The maximum obtained value is taken as the resulting dimensions in width, and the minimum in height.

On the garage floor, lay out two parallel profile guides. We fasten them together with a C-profile from the bottom side, from the top - with a transom profile. The inner size of the frame must be equal to the dimensions of the opening.

If, according to the instructions, it is supposed to be connected with clamps or brackets, the profiles are cut close to each other at a right angle, as if a frame were being assembled from a profile pipe. Quite often, the connecting profiles have perforations and are designed for fastening with clamping strips. In this case, the crossbar and guides are cut to form a small "tongue" for bolting the parts.

Before starting the assembly of the frame, do not forget to put on the seals on the edges of the guides and cut them at the joints.

The opening must be prepared before installation. Since sectional doors are independently assembled, it is best to install them after finishing. It is advisable that the garage opening made of SIP panels or frame structures be reinforced with a steel corner for reliable fastening. In stone buildings, it is advisable to plaster the ends, maintaining the recommended installation dimensions.

The assembled frame must be set, observing the levels. It is advisable to lay a support bar on the floor in advance, for example, the C-profile from the kit and set it in a horizontal plane, transfer the corresponding marks to the opening. The lower ends of the frame are set according to these marks. Further, the frame is applied and set strictly vertically along a plumb line or perpendicular to the floor plane. After alignment, the frame is fixed with fasteners that match the wall material.

Installation of the guide system

Vertical rails can be attached to the walls by direct mounting or using standard brackets. Adjustable fastening methods are preferred: anchor bolts, dowels and self-tapping screws with a drilling head. First, the frame is simply fixed in the opening, then the correct installation is checked, and only after that the final tightening of the fasteners follows.

The next step is to temporarily fix the arc guides if the horizontal installation method was chosen. They are connected to the uprights by means of bolts; it is also possible to have counter and clamping strips or special shaped washers. In most cases, the straight rail is inserted into the arc rail, it may not even need to be fastened if pre-assembled at the factory.

The horizontal section guides are inserted into and connected to the corner guides. Sometimes, in order to reduce the size of the package, the vertical rails are halved, even with vertical installation. In this case, the elements are connected to each other using a special straight connector. When connecting the guides, it is important to ensure that no sills or gaps are formed between the profile flanges at the joints with the corner profile, which could lead to jamming of the rollers. This usually happens when the far edge of the horizontal guides is blocked.

On a loosened bolted connection, the horizontal profiles are supported by the C-profile, while the connecting profile is transferred from the bottom of the door to the very end of the guide rails. Next, you need to eliminate the skew by aligning the diagonals of the rectangle formed under the ceiling. After the final alignment, tighten the bolts on the rail connections and secure them to the ceiling with L-brackets.

Drive mechanism device

There are two main versions of the balancing mechanism - the torsion shaft and the tension spring. Their principle of operation is identical, they differ only in layout.

So, the torsion shaft is mounted in the upper part of the opening independently of other door elements. Usually the shaft has a pair of springs and idler pulleys for the left and right side of the opening. A cable is attached to the pulleys, which goes down to the lowest section of the gate, where it ends with a thimble fixed on a protruding pin or in a bracket loop.

The torsion shaft requires painstaking assembly. Basically, it includes adjusting the width of the opening and fastening the two halves with a flange. After installing the lower section and attaching the drive cable to it, you need to take out the slack with a special adjusting clutch and tighten the locking bolts with force.

Spring tensioners are easy to install and are fixed in vertical guide recesses, most often they are pre-assembled at the factory. The cable has the same attachment to the lower section as the torsion shaft, but is adjusted differently. It is necessary to let go of the bench press, pull out the slack and tighten the bolts again.

The final adjustment is carried out after the sectional door has been fully assembled. In any position when opening, the sections should not spontaneously move, remaining in one position. If the sections begin to fall, then the tension of the torsion shaft is increased, and the spring tensioner is stretched, moving the retainer to a new position along the prepared perforations.

Hitching the canvas

Installation of sections is the simplest stage of door assembly. One after another, they are installed between the guides, after which roller supports are bolted to the ends. In some cases, the reinforcing steel plates have already been installed by the manufacturer; it remains only to attach a small bracket with a roller to them with bolts. When installing, two sets of fittings are used - for the left and right sides - they cannot be confused, for which the sets are specially marked with the letters L (left) and R (right).

The sections are fastened together with overhead loops. They should be fastened, like the roller supports, with self-tapping screws for sandwich panels. There are only a couple of things left: adjust the rollers, ensuring that the sections are pressed against the seal, and then set the upper pair of guide wheels that set the cornering movement when opening.

Completion of installation

After the upper section has been mounted, in a closed garage without lighting, you need to check the gate for gaps. The slots can be between the guides and the walls, the upper abutment unit and sealing strips in places of loose fit are often visible through.

Finally, make sure that the drive mechanism is properly adjusted. The door leaf must not move spontaneously in any position.

If the installation meets the requirements, the locking mechanisms, handles and decorative strips are attached to the rails. The sectional door is now ready for many years of use.
