One of the easiest options is painting. But this method can also be improved to a beautiful decorating technique by simple actions. This article proposes to consider the method of painting a concrete fence "under a stone".

List of materials and tools

To decorate a concrete fence using the proposed method, add masking tape, tape measure and pencil to the usual list of tools and materials that are used for standard painting of external surfaces. So, we need:

  • paint for exterior concrete work;
  • container for paint;
  • long-handled roller;
  • masking tape;
  • roulette;
  • pencil.

Paint selection

The color for painting should be determined based on personal preference and the style of the entire area. In our case, the painting will be done "under the stone", which means that the pigment must be chosen one that will imitate the color of natural stone. It can be gray or even black stone, but in the garden, more joyful shades such as yellow, orange, red are preferable. It is important, when choosing a color pigment, not to overdo it with brightness, so matte paint in pastel colors would be the best option.

Surface preparation

Before starting work, it is necessary, as in any case before painting, to prepare the surface of the fence. To do this, we clean the concrete surface from dust and dirt by washing it with a brush with water. If possible, we carefully prime the entire painted area.

Marking

The most crucial moment for imitating a stone pattern is applying even markings. Of course, having artistic talent, you can recreate a real drawing of masonry with all its irregularities, but such work requires special skill. Without being a master craftsman, you can simply create a neat pattern with a tape measure and a pencil.

In the examples given in the photo, the size of the simulated stone was chosen 20x40 cm. When applying the markings, it is necessary to take into account the width of the masking tape.

Next, we glue the masking tape according to the markings applied.

It is important to pay attention to its quality when choosing a masking tape. Cheap tape can make the process very difficult because it will not stick well and come off.

After making accurate marking and pasting with masking tape, a similar pattern should be obtained.

Paint application

There are no special requirements for applying paint to the prepared surface. It is only important to ensure that the masking tape does not come off, therefore, in this case, it is recommended to use a roller, not a brush. It is also possible to apply paint using a special spray gun.

Cleaning the surface from masking tape

When the paint is completely dry, it is necessary to perform the final step - remove the masking tape.

Thus, the unpainted surface, which was under the tape, creates stripes that mark the surface of the fence with a "stone-like" pattern.

Additional decoration options

If desired, you can add "shadows" to the drawing to give more volume and believability to the image. In this case, gray concrete plays the role of a shadow.

Bare concrete, although in color, can appear dull immediately after being painted. But having played this surface correctly with vegetation, you can get a fairly "live" picture.
