Plumbing will last a long time if preventive work is carried out in a timely manner. So, for example, if you have a heating boiler installed, then in order to avoid its premature breakdown, it is necessary to clean it at least once a year. It should be understood that mineral deposits can not only destroy the heating elements of the boiler, but also clog the pipes, which will eventually disable the mixers. Therefore, timely cleaning of the boiler is a necessary stage of preventive work designed to prevent premature failure of the entire plumbing system.
Required tools
For work we need:
- Spanners. Since different boilers may differ in the size of the bolts used, it is impossible to say for sure which keys are needed. You can try using multi-purpose wrenches or gas wrenches.
- Slotted and Phillips screwdriver.
- Metal brush for cleaning boiler elements.
- You may need a flexible hose about 1 m long to drain the water.
Boiler cleaning
1. Disconnect the boiler from the electrical network.

2. We open the tap with cold water to drain hot water from the boiler.
3. We shut off the inlet taps.

4. Remove the protective cover from below. To do this, you need a Phillips or slotted screwdriver. Under the lid, you will see wires going to the thermostat and ground.

5. Disconnect the wires. To do this, simply pull the block down, it will disengage. We take out the thermostat with a long thin rod. Remove the ground wire from the contact plate. It is either screwed on or simply put on using a terminal block. If in doubt that you can remember where which wire went, then mark them before dismantling.
6. The wires are disconnected.

7. Correct installation of the boiler implies installation at the outlet of the drain valve. If it is installed, then everything will be quite simple.

8. Close the tap. We unscrew the flexible eyeliner. We open the tap and drain the water into a bucket or toilet.

9. If there is no tap, then simply disconnect the line and direct it into the drain container. A decent water pressure will go, so you will have to act pretty quickly.
10. If the water does not go, then unscrew the inlet hose, it will definitely go. We drain the water completely. This is the most tedious stage, and its duration depends on the capacity of the boiler itself, the larger it is, the longer you will have to hold on to the hoses, directing the water into the toilet bowl or bucket.

11. When the water drains, unscrew the bolts holding the protective cover and remove it.

She could "stick", so you can pry it with a flat screwdriver. Do not forget to substitute a large bowl or wide bucket, as debris will spill out of the boiler.

12. Check the condition of the magnesium anode. We replace it if necessary. We clean tena from scale and dirt. We do this carefully with a metal brush.

13. Remove all dirt from the bottom of the tank through the hole. We rinse the tank from the inside with a syringe or with a shower head. We clean the hole.

14. Upon completion of cleaning, reassemble in the reverse order. Fasten the cover crosswise. Do not forget to check the condition of the rubber seals and replace them if necessary.

15. We fasten all the hoses, after checking the condition of the rubber seals.

16. We open a hot water tap in the mixer. Since a small amount of debris could remain in the system, so that it does not clog the aerator on the mixer spout, we dismantle the spout or aerator itself.

17. We open the taps.

18. The boiler will be filled with cold water until strong pressure flows from the mixer. We drain the water until it becomes completely clean. You can close the mixer and install a spout or aerator. After the boiler is completely filled, we check it for leaks. If necessary, tighten the connections.

19. Assembling the electrical part.

20. Install the protective cover and turn on the boiler. If the indicator lamp lights up or the board lights up, then everything is assembled correctly.

Cleaning the boiler will not only extend its service life, but also give tangible energy savings, because now it will take less time before the water is fully heated, and the cycle itself will be significantly reduced.
