How to choose a heat pump. Overview of seven popular models
How to choose a heat pump. Overview of seven popular models

Since the attention to "clean energy" began to grow steadily, a large number of samples of equipment, both foreign and domestic, have appeared in the post-Soviet space. In most cases, the purchase of a heat pump is significantly cheaper than gasification of the site, and there is no question of comparing the efficiency of the operation of geothermal units with other heating systems.

Before choosing a heat pump

The most popular choice of Russian buyers is multifunctional heat pumps optimized for operation from different sources of geothermal heat. For many people, the decisive factor when choosing is the ability of the heat pump to provide the house with running hot water.

The power output range for most heat pumps is the same, and the higher the price in a number of typical equipment, the longer the service life between overhauls. The sign of a truly suitable piece of equipment is the best combination of the following operating parameters:

  1. COP (energy conversion factor). Determines the energy efficiency of the installation by comparing the ratio of temperatures in the primary and final heat exchange circuits with the electrical power required for operation, and the value of the coefficient set by the manufacturer is not real. The exact COP value can only be recorded during operation at a specific heat source temperature and temperature in the house. In most regions of Russia, it is acceptable to use devices capable of providing a COP value from 4.2 to 5.2. COP is a general and basic indicator of the operation of any heat pump, while it depends on the characteristics of individual units.
  2. Compressor capacity (m 3 / min);
  3. Rated electrical and thermal power of the installation (respectively, consumption and heat received);
  4. The boiling point of the refrigerant gas and its type;
  5. The power of circulation pumps and the presence of frequency control of the system;
  6. Controller type and functionality. It is better to choose a heat pump, the operation of all automation units in which is controlled by a microprocessor controller, which provides as many completely autonomous operating modes as possible for different climatic conditions.

Most suppliers order a heat pump through a questionnaire, so each unit is made individually. Therefore, we will compare seven universal equipment models from different popular manufacturers.
