It's no secret that each of us has our own favorite color. When choosing clothes or interior items, we, often without even noticing it, give preference to our favorite shades. Of course, I want the room to please the eye with a harmonious combination of colors.
What color can tell about the features of your character, which has become the main one in the interior of the house? What shades will help to make the room more "warm" or "cool", "fresh" or "sensual"? What combinations are advised by professionals involved in the creation of interior design?

Color is the main "working tool" of the designer, allowing to create a uniquely beautiful and memorable interior
White
White is associated primarily with purity and freshness. White is able to visually enlarge even the smallest room, make the room, facing north, brighter. White is very laconic and quite strict, more often found in the style of minimalism, ideally combined with all other colors.

However, the white interior also has drawbacks - often such a room looks like it’s unfinished, unfinished, here you want to add some bright colors. A room decorated exclusively in white can look sterile, uninhabited and uncomfortable.
Designers advise using white in the interior as a "blank canvas", which will then be applied with brighter strokes and shades. For example, against the background of white walls, dark wood furniture or a cheerful painting will look especially attractive, a bright lamp should be placed on a white ceiling, and so on.

As for the nature of people who prefer white in the interior, then, most likely, the owner of a snow-white room is distinguished by a rather closed character, a dreamer, prefers solitude to noisy companies and is restrained in trying to get to know better. Pedants and neat people use white interiors to emphasize the sophisticated style of their home.

White walls and ceilings are already a real classic, against the background of which furniture in other colors will look great. But creating a completely snow-white interior is quite difficult, a sense of proportion is important here.
The black
Of course, it's impossible to imagine a completely black interior - it's too gloomy. However, black turns out to be very useful in correcting space, it has the property of absorbing light, visually reduces and emphasizes a volumetric room. In combination with black, any other color becomes clearer and brighter, but it can only be used in a fairly bright room.

It is advisable to make black surfaces glossy and alternate with shiny tiles or mirror panels.
Lovers of black are considered passionate, stubborn, go to their goal confidently, literally ahead, but they cannot always objectively assess the situation - they are overwhelmed by feelings and emotions, making it difficult to consider the details of what is happening. In addition, decorating the interior in black tones, the owners often want to demonstrate their original taste and extravagance, that is, they simply want to stand out from the crowd.

Could you live in a room like this? If so, you are definitely an extraordinary person. You should not get carried away with black, but you can and should emphasize with its help individual details

The combination of white and black looks impeccable and is often found in Japanese interiors.
Grey
Gray can rightfully be called the most versatile and truly versatile. It has many shades - from the lightest, almost white, to deep dark, almost black. Gray harmoniously combines with shades of blue, green, pink, blue, white and black.

This color is neutral, strict, laconic, calm, but at the same time it can be warm, emphasizes the texture of wood and textile details. Against the background of gray, any shades will look especially bright and attractive.
Gray color in the interior is preferred by judicious, practical natures, inclined to analyze their every step and deed.

A gray interior doesn't have to be boring and boring. The variety of shades of this color allows you to create an attractive and original design, make the room stylish and original.
Yellow and orange
The most cheerful and optimistic interior colors, creating an "orange mood" and making the most cloudy day sunny and bright. Most often, yellow is used to decorate a children's room, but it can also decorate any other room in the house.

But yellow and orange should not be used for walls and ceilings in the bedroom - they are too aggressive and it will be difficult to relax in such a room. Separate bright details of yellow or orange color are best diluted with calmer and more neutral shades, for example, white, gray or beige.
Lovers of yellow and orange are open, sociable, cheerful, reliable friends. Generous natures, always ready to help, they are smart and patient, successful in business and lucky.

A yellow or orange room can look too bright, "canary". This is where it is very easy to overdo it. Yellow in the interior is great, but it shouldn't be too much
Blue, light blue, purple
Cool, calm shades, traditional colors for a boy's nursery, bathroom and bedroom decoration. Blue and light blue give a feeling of calmness and coolness, visually expand the space and therefore are especially loved by designers.
But stylists have a difficult attitude to purple. On the one hand, it is mysterious, beautiful and can be of various shades - from solid dark to gentle and romantic light. On the other hand, many people think that the purple room looks too gloomy and depresses the inhabitants. In living rooms, it is better to use only light shades of purple, however, designers also do not recommend getting carried away with dark blue.

Blue shades are preferred by travel lovers, enthusiastic natures, sociable and able to enjoy life. Purple is a more philosophical color, a shade of dreamers and artists, albeit not by profession, but by vocation.

Blue and light blue go well with each other, as well as with white, yellow and gray colors. Such a room will always look advantageous, fresh and stylish.

The purple color just needs to be diluted with lighter shades, for example, white or light blue, otherwise the room from a room with a hint of mystery will turn into a gloomy closet
Red
The most passionate, vibrant and intense color. Red is actively used in the design of interiors of any premises - from a cramped kitchen to a luxurious living room. Skillfully using shades of red, you can achieve an amazingly beautiful result, create an original and comfortable interior.

However, red, like yellow, can become too much. It should be paired with more soothing neutral colors. Red harmoniously combines with white and black, in such an interior you can add sand and beige shades that soften the passion of scarlet.
The owners of the house, who decided to decorate their home in the rich red colors, are distinguished by their strong character. These are leaders, passionate, carried away natures, often too much to command.

Red furniture is often found in bright Art Nouveau style, but more restrained shades, such as burgundy and purple, can be seen in classic interiors and ethnic styles.
Green
Fresh grass, warm spring day, untouched nature - these are the pleasant associations that the juicy shades of green evoke. Designers consider pistachio and light green colors to be the most successful for bedroom decoration. They soothe, help to relax and at the same time do not look too cold and laconic.

All shades of green are surprisingly well combined with each other, green harmonizes with both white and red colors. And the combination of dark green and gold looks incredibly rich and luxurious.
Green is preferred by persistent and practical people for whom the material side of life is important. They are confident in themselves, strive for comfort and do not tolerate clutter.

Against the background of light green walls, furniture of a darker shade of greenery will look very harmonious. In this color, it is quite possible to decorate the whole room.
Brown
Today beige and light brown are the most popular colors in interior design. These soothing shades are associated with natural woods and nature, they are neutral and can brighten any room.

Brown tones are considered "warm" and make the room very homely and cozy. They go well with brighter colors, especially greens and light yellows. In general, the brown-green range has already become a classic and is actively used in Japanese and English design styles.
Brown is the favorite color of balanced, reasonable people who love silence, comfort and prefer to spend time at home.

Warm browns are the perfect color scheme for any room. If the room is dark, it is better to prefer light colors. In such a room, wooden furniture will look harmonious.
Professional advice
Of course, the primary colors listed above are far from the entire palette that a designer and home owner can use. For example, white can be not only snow-white, but also milky, ivory, cream, seashell, and so on. There are even more shades of red - carmine, cherry, coral, terracotta, scarlet, burgundy, pomegranate …
In general, designers divide all colors and shades into eight main groups that allow you to create one of the following moods in the interior:

In such a room, there must be at least one bright spot - a picture, an upholstered armchair in a rich shade or beautiful curtains.
- Traditional colors. Designers refer to such shades as antique gold, hunting and military green, order blue, dark brown, blue-green, gray-brown, patrician purple, the color of wine berries. These are noble shades that will allow you to decorate a room in a retro style. In such a room, checkered sofa upholstery, traditional vertical striped wallpaper and dark wood furniture will look great.

The combination of deep brown, black and sandy shades creates a very cozy and sensual bedroom

Living room in warm colors - here the main color has become pale pink, which is harmoniously complemented by brown and beige
The influence of color on a person's well-being and mood should not be underestimated. It is not for nothing that designers and psychologists confidently say: if you want to make the relationship more passionate, add a little red, orange or pink to the bedroom interior. Do you want your child to become more attentive and able to focus on homework? Decorate the work area in the nursery in green tones. Would you like to lose weight? Then a blue, blue or gray kitchen will be your best assistant. Do you want to be known as a hospitable hostess, in whose kitchen there is always something tasty?
