Covering shields, radiator grilles can be made by hand and will decorate the interior of your home. But radiator grilles, shields perform not only a decorative function, they can also be successfully used as places for placing indoor plants, decorative flowerpots, etc.
Lattice - braided
The option that will be discussed is a braided lattice. Its distinctive feature is the simplicity of the manufacturing method, which makes it accessible to any home craftsman.
The construction is based on a wooden frame assembled from bars with a section of 30x30 mm. The way of connecting the bars can be any - half-wood, on dowels or screws. The frame is intertwined with furniture cotton tapes, fixing their ends on the reverse side with staples using a stapler. The fastening of the finished decorative grille to the wall in this case is carried out using hinges cut into the rear frame pillars.
A radiator screen or grille that disguises not always elegant central heating batteries can significantly improve the interior. And not only this. In combination with niches, cupboards, window sills, not only beautiful furnishings are obtained, giving the room an attractive look. They also carry an additional functional load as locations for placing any household items (flowers, toys, decorative vases, etc.).

1. You can braid the frame with a wide piece of furniture tape, securing its ends with a stapler
2. A simple pine frame covered with intertwined furniture tape, resulting in a nice decorative radiator grill.
3. Dimensions are determined by the installation site.
4. Fasten the decorative grill by hanging it with loops on the screws screwed into the dowels.
Wooden lattice

This photo shows a decorative grille made of wooden bars for a radiator installed in a window niche.
1. Having prepared the required number of bars with a section of 20x30 mm and a length corresponding to the dimensions of the niche, mark the places of their attachment and drill holes for screws.
2. Marking and drilling of holes should be carried out "in a package", squeezing several bars with clamps. This will provide the required accuracy and facilitate assembly of the structure.
3. The finished lattice is covered with several coats of furniture lacquer and installed in a niche. Its fixation is carried out by friction between the wall and the ends of the bars.
Note: Pre-drilling the holes makes it easier to assemble the grille with screws.
Screen mat

In many houses and apartments, reed mats are often found on the windows, which protect the premises from the rays of the scorching midday sun. By the same principle, you can make a screen for a heating radiator located under this window.
The top edge of the mat is attached to the rail with a stapler. The rail itself is installed and fixed in the niche in any convenient way.
A nice screen for a radiator can be bamboo bundles stuck into floor flowerpots filled with expanded clay or
crushed stone.
Note: Bamboo can be replaced by a shredded, dried and varnished vine or suitable tree branches and
shrubs.
Mesh in the bathroom

An option for draping a heating radiator in the bathroom can be a net, for example, from a playpen. Its lower edge is fixed on metal rods, the upper edge - on an edge strip screwed to the over-radiator shelf. A semicircular cutout is provided in the shelf to circulate warm air.
Note: The screws used to fix the rail to the shelf must be zinc-plated or brass.
Technostyle

If the room is dominated by an environment with shiny glass and metal, the so-called high-tech style, then you should find a suitable metal chrome grille for the radiator screen. To mount it in the window niche, they install racks, to which the grille itself is attached with bolts and nuts.
Note: the option for attaching the grille can be protruding studs, which are made from bolts with a diameter of 8 mm. The lattices are suspended by pins to special holders mounted on the racks.
Curtain

In a children's room, it is better to drape the heating radiator with a cloth of fabric similar in color and pattern to window curtains. This will protect the restless child from injury during games and fun.
The fabric is fastened by metal rivets-ears installed at the corners of the panel.
Note: by cutting out small holes in the corners of the stitched panel, special rivets-ears are installed in them.
These are the design options for heating radiators, we learned from this article. You can use the above examples to hide radiators in your home, as well as use the material in the article as a starting point to do the job of sheltering radiators, embodying your own design ideas.
