A beautiful and high-quality bathroom renovation is always accompanied by a number of problems. It is required to combine the external gloss of the finish with the wiring of engineering networks, connect the water-folding devices without violating the integrity of the tile laying.

In most cases, bathroom renovation seems to be a very definite, standard solution with few options. As a rule, this is a hidden wiring of water and sewer pipes, ceramic tiles on the floor and walls, as well as a suspended ceiling. The renovation is completed by the latest plumbing equipment with a safe power supply, as well as sophisticated lighting. The set of necessary works for such repairs will be approximately the same and differ mainly in the amount of one or another of their types. These include: replacing pipes, preparing and leveling the surfaces of walls, floors and ceilings, replacing and connecting plumbing equipment, installing electrical wiring, laying tiles, installing a false ceiling.

What is the main difference between these works in the bathroom, from similar ones performed, say, in the kitchen?

The main difference lies in the operating conditions of the room itself, since the bathroom is a room with high humidity. Moreover, active vaporization is possible in the air, leading to corrosion of both building and sanitary structures. In addition, the bathroom is operated, as a rule, with a higher load on all installed equipment, from taps to drain devices.

Using the example of the main stages of finishing a bathroom, we will try to explain the features of each of the listed operations.

The first thing to do is to dismantle the existing pipes. This work, as a rule, does not cause difficulties, especially in new apartments, where utilities are made of modern metal-plastic pipes.

For high-quality repairs, the water pipes should be hidden in the grooves, therefore, the installation of new sections of the water supply should be carried out with polypropylene pipes with soldered joints. In this case, the use of metal-plastic structures with clamping connections is extremely undesirable, since they cannot guarantee trouble-free and long-term operation in conditions of hidden wiring.

Next, you need to replace the wiring. When installing it, wiring should be done only with whole pieces of wire, in double insulation and preferably with a sufficient power reserve. All electrical connections must be made in junction boxes outside the bathroom. The wires going to the sockets and switches must be laid through the through holes in the walls, and those going to the lamps are securely hidden either in the plaster or under the drywall sheets.

The next thing to do is to align the walls in the bathroom. It should be noted that in this case, cement-based plaster mortars should be used, since they do not change their characteristics in a moisture-saturated environment. If repairs are made in old buildings where lime plaster was used, then before starting work, it should be completely removed and the walls should be re-aligned. It is possible to greatly simplify and speed up the preparation of walls using moisture-resistant plasterboard sheets.

Then you can start installing the floor. Before laying the tiles, it is imperative to waterproof the base. Currently, there are many materials for these purposes. It can be special impregnation for concrete, and dry hydrophobic building mixtures. Reliable waterproofing of the floor will not flood the neighbors from the lower floor.

The laying of tiles in the bathroom does not differ significantly from laying in other rooms. It should only be taken into account that voids under the tiles are unacceptable here, so this work should be done especially carefully. The same is true when grouting joints - they must be filled with mortar to the full depth.

For the ceiling in the bathroom, any materials that resist moisture are suitable. It can be synthetic stretch ceilings, slatted ceilings made of aluminum profiles, or, at the simplest, ceilings made of plastic panels.

It is undesirable to use waterproof gypsum plasterboards to level the ceiling, it will be much more reliable to level the ceiling with moisture-resistant fillers.

Following these small, but very important, remarks, it will be easy to achieve quality when decorating your bathroom, even without your own skills.
