Exhaust system In order to ventilate your home, good builders have provided for exhaust air grilles located in the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. However, over time, such a system becomes littered with dust, debris, poplar fluff, pigeon feathers and droppings.

The situation can be improved if the air is driven with a fan. In this case, even the lumen left in the duct is sufficient for normal ventilation.

In order to understand how cluttered the ventilation system of your house is and what kind of fan is needed, it is enough to bring the candle to the vents in the kitchen, toilet and bathroom. If the flame deflects towards the grate, then there is a draft and you can get by with a simple fan. If the candle does not react in any way to the proximity of the ventilation grill, a "centrifugal" fan will be required to create a higher head. This pleasure costs two to three times higher, but if the duct is thoroughly clogged with all kinds of good, a standard "axial" fan simply will not help. However, the other extreme is also harmful. If you organize too intense a flow, the exhaust grilles of the neighbors from above will turn into supply ones, and the air you spoiled will begin to flow through them, carrying away the dust accumulated in the ventilation system for years.

Even if you don't give a damn about your neighbors, do not forget that they can also make you a "punk". For example, plug the air duct below your vent with an old quilted jacket. In this case, your ventilation system will simply "choke" or start pumping air to the neighbors from below (if they do not have double-glazed windows).

In any apartment there are at least three places where the presence of a fan will not be superfluous. These are toilet, bathroom and kitchen.

Toilet fans

If the ventilation system is still "alive", a simple exhaust fan will suffice in the toilet. It is selected at the rate of 30 cubic meters. m / h. on one "seat" and fixed directly to where the air grill "flaunts". And so that the fan does not buzz constantly, but only turns on for business, it is connected to a light switch. Some appliances are included with a cord, but even better if this fan is equipped with a timer. Then he will start working in a couple of minutes after you leave your home. After working for the specified period (5-15 minutes), the fan will turn off.

Bathroom fans

It is best to install a splash-proof fan in the bathroom. And a short circuit will not happen, and water will not enter the duct. This pleasure is already more expensive, and if there is an opportunity not to save money, install a fan with a humidity controller in the bathroom. As soon as it exceeds a certain value, the fan will remove the moisture-laden air. And it's easier to breathe, and the mirror will not fog up, and even linen in such a bathroom dries much faster.

Ventilation for the kitchen

In the kitchen, the demand for air is higher, and therefore a more powerful fan is required. Its performance can be selected by multiplying the cubic capacity of the kitchen by 10 and subtracting the volume occupied by the furniture. That is, a 6-meter kitchen will require a fan that produces 120-180 cubic meters. m / h, and for a 10-meter - 220-300 cubic meters. m / h. Moreover, unlike a bathroom and a restroom, in the kitchen, you can organize not only an exhaust hood, but also an inflow, for which fans inserted into the window are used.

True, in recent years, exhaust umbrellas have been increasingly used in kitchens. In our country, the most widespread so-called recirculation hoods, which clean the air from odors, vapors and cigarette smoke, and then return it to the room. Sometimes such devices are equipped with additional equipment, for example, antibacterial ultraviolet lamps. However, kitchen umbrellas are more effective, removing air outside the room, usually through an existing duct system. It is especially recommended to use such devices in combined kitchens and dining rooms, since in this case, together with odors, surplus heat is removed into the street, which makes it possible to greatly reduce the power of the air conditioner used in this room.

Despite the fact that kitchen vapors and odors are drawn into the street, such systems also include filters and, in most cases, a system for drying the removed air. This is necessary in order to keep the air ducts and the fan intact and safe, to prevent their corrosion and overgrowth with the decomposition products of organic fats.

Residential fans

Sometimes living rooms are also ventilated, only, unlike the kitchen, when choosing a fan, the cubic capacity of the room is usually multiplied not by 10, but by 3. Sometimes they do it differently, buying a device at the rate of 30 cubic meters. m / h. for every living soul.

Supply system

If double-glazed windows are installed in your house or you yourself have taken care of them to decorate your windows, the exhaust ventilation system stops working normally and the air becomes musty very quickly. The choice in this case is simple: either to constantly open the windows (in this case, all the advantages of double-glazed windows are lost), or to design a supply ventilation system.

There are three main ways to create airflow. The easiest is to install supply fans in the windows. However, there is one "but". In this case, you will have to make double-glazed windows of complex shape, providing a place for installing a fan. Not every company will want to take on such work, and if they do, the windows can turn golden. In addition, such fans supply uncleaned air, and in winter they can overcool the room.

Therefore, they usually go the other way - create a supply ventilation system. It can be organized in two ways: use a ready-made supply unit, or assemble it from separate elements, such as a fan, filter, electric heater, and silencer.

There is no fundamental difference between the two options. In any case, all ventilation units are hidden above the suspended ceiling, in a niche or decorative box. Sometimes the supply unit is located directly on the loggia, as they say, in an open way.

The supply of "oxygen" is carried out by the supply unit located on the loggia. Air enters the apartment and is distributed through the air ducts through the living rooms. At the same time, the extraction takes place through the existing exhaust grilles in the kitchen, in bathrooms and toilets.

The system performs its functions even at the minimum fan speed, which is very important in winter. Heating the supply air is very expensive, and it is not easy to find free electrical power. Another important point is noise, and the higher the air flow rate, the greater it is.

In order to clean the air from various mechanical impurities, poplar fluff and other dangling nasty things, a special "pocket" filter is provided in the supply unit, which allows to catch all these particles. In order to remove it from the inflow and shake out the debris, it is enough to open the technological door. At the same time, fine air purification takes place in the deodorizing filters of air conditioners. Activated carbon removes odors and chemical compounds, while a special filter coating kills bacteria.
