In glossy magazines, the bathroom looks like a luxury salon. Radiance and shine, every little thing on its shelf, from the window you can admire the beautiful nature and clouds floating across the sky. There is a place for an exercise machine, a solarium, a couch for relaxation. And what do we have in a typical housing? Combined bathroom with an area of 3-5 sq. meter, which you dare not call a room either. But if a designer adopts the motto "less is more," the result can be impressive. Today we will introduce you to the techniques that allow you to make a small bathroom space quite comfortable, beautiful and modern.

The layout and placement of plumbing is dictated by the location of risers, piping of hot and cold water. The most rigid connection is the toilet bowl to the sewer riser. Usually this part is sewn into a box that is not very pleasing to the eye. If the riser already exists, then it is better not only to hide it, but also to use it as efficiently as possible, for example, to hide the tank in it. If you have resorted to redevelopment, then the range of solutions expands significantly. By correctly installing the plumbing, you can already win some of the usable area. Modern plumbing allows you to place sinks and toilets on one low partition from different sides, which sometimes saves space and functional zoning of the bathroom. There are modern models of the toilet with a deep flush device that attaches directly to the wall. This solution not only helps to save space, but also creates additional convenience for cleaning the toilet.

The partition can also separate the bathtub and the sink, the sink and the shower cubicle, which is thus reliably insulated. The main advantage of such a partition is that it hides a pipeline system.

Installation of plumbing pipelines is also possible in low plinths adjacent to the bathroom walls. This reduces the time and cost of construction work, because in this case you can do without the services of a bricklayer and plasterer. Built-in plumbing objects are designed in different ways. The most popular shell-protrusions up to 1 meter high, the upper surfaces of which are used as shelves. Plinth elements can be tiled, wallpapered or trimmed with wood.

Space dividers can also be more functional things, pieces of furniture, for example, in a small bathroom, the toilet and washbasin areas can be separated from each other by a narrow cabinet with a pull-out section, and the cabinet itself can be placed on an electric heater that complements the electric floor heating system or another item used in the bathroom. For complete comfort, the distance from the partition or cabinet wall to the toilet bowl should be at least 25 cm. The plumbing fixture assembly with a cladding panel built into the corner takes up a minimum of usable space.

Corner solutions open up great prospects. A washing machine and a small corner storage room above it can perfectly fit in the corner; sometimes a bath, sink, toilet bowl fits perfectly, freeing up "traditional" places.

The corner shower provides comfort in a minimal footprint. For confined spaces, this option is optimal: the center of rotation of the door can be set individually, you can also purchase cabins with a corner entrance, with sliding doors, as well as round and pentahedral shapes. Thanks to the case made of natural glass, it does not clutter up the space at all. In very tiny bathrooms, you can restrict yourself to just a shower and abandon the built-in tray, making the room seem more spacious. Such a shower can only be separated from the rest of the bath by a light glass partition, which protects the room from splashes.

It happens that you want to have at your disposal the maximum of necessary plumbing, an expanded set of amenities. But if it is placed in the traditional way, it will not be possible to turn at all. In this case, non-standard solutions can come to the rescue. For example, the unusual configuration of the bathroom is fraught with reserves and can give quite interesting solutions. The equipment may not fit at right angles, but changing the angle of the equipment will provide free access to it.

The "flexible" organization of the useful space will help to increase the room capacity. For example, the use of a mobile acrylic washbasin, which, thanks to a strong hinge, easily changes its position. The same swivel cabinet installed in the corner of the shower stall. Combination of a full bath with a shower. With such solutions, for the visual unification of all parts of the space, it is advisable to vene the basement of the bathroom and the walls with the same material.

The color in the bathroom is determined mainly by wall and floor tiles. Here, the rule common to all types of rooms applies: light colors and transparent materials visually expand the space, dark ones reduce. Avoid dark or too bright tile tones, tiles with large patterns. Glittering surfaces won't do either - they make the impression heavy. It is better to choose matt surfaces and tiles and furniture. The diagonally laid floor tiles visually enlarge the room.
There should be a reasonable amount of light in the bathroom, because this is not a surgical operating room. A functional lamp in the mirror area.
Furniture and equipment. In the bathroom, it is important to make the best use of the storage space without sacrificing free space. Compact bathtubs, shower units, mirrors, wardrobes, and small furniture are being developed especially for small bathrooms. Compact light-colored furniture from the same collection gives the room a lightness. Practical and convenient can be a rack on roller supports made of chrome-plated metal with pull-out containers made of wire mesh. The space under and above the countertop of the washbasin is maximally used to accommodate shelves and cabinets.

Even a washing machine can be hidden under the countertop.

If there is no place for furniture at all, then we will make the most of the space of the walls, more precisely, wall niches and shelves.

Mirrors are among the traditional methods of visual enlargement of space. In our case, you definitely can't do without a mirror. It is appropriate here like nowhere else - both functional and aesthetically pleasing, and visually expands the space. You can add versatility to it: so that it does not just hang on the wall, but also serves as a cabinet door for small things. If the bathroom is not sufficiently lit, an additional convenience can be a wall-mounted mirror with a variable angle of inclination.

Heating elements, heated towel rails, without which rarely any bathroom can do today, also ask for their place. Let's think if we can make them multifunctional. For example, turn a towel warmer into a support system that supports a small shelf for small items and at the same time serves as a support system for a folding plexiglass bath screen (a spectacular and practical alternative to a curtain).

A small space obliges to think over the design to the smallest detail so that the bathroom is aesthetic and functional. Our allies are color, light and form. If the original layout does not meet your needs, it can be changed within reasonable limits and with the achievement of maximum comfort. To use every centimeter in your bathroom, consult a professional who can suggest the best options for you.
